The Discovery Passage Passage
Canoeist, kayakers, row boats, dragon boats, first nations war canoes and owners of any human
powered craft are invited to reenact the early days when our pioneers rowed and paddled the 2.77 kilometers
across Discovery Passage to Quadra Island. This is a fun event, not a race. Some participants may wear period
costumes. There will be a lemonade stand half way across the passage to keep it “ light” Boats will start
from the 3.5 acre waterfront site, cross the Passage, enter Quathiaski cove , round Grouse Island then return
to the start on the Campbell River side. Life jackets are mandatory. Several safety craft will be stationed
along the route. We estimate the crossing will take just over an hour. To register or for further information
write passages@crcn.net or phone Geoff at 923-8482.
